Who’s Who: Maher Al-Gothmi, CEO of the King Abdulaziz Royal Nature Reserve Development Authority

Maher Al-Gothmi has been the chief executive officer of the King Abdulaziz Royal Nature Reserve Development Authority since February last year.
He has about 15 years of experience in the Kingdom’s various private and government sectors including property development, engineering, operations management, real estate, construction, facilities management, logistics, and food services.
Al-Gothmi also served as deputy governor of engineering affairs at Saudi Customs from October 2018 to February 2021. He previously worked for Saudi Customs from July 2017 to September 2018 as an adviser/head of projects for engineering and maintenance.
He has managed the strategic development of a SR12 billion ($3.2 billion) project. This included daily maintenance and facilities management of 14 land ports and other customs sites at 30 seaports, airports, post offices, and dry ports.
In his year-long stint from June 2016 to July 2017 at the JLL Real Estate Company, Al-Gothmi worked as a senior development manager. He further provided his expertise for several mega projects including the office fit-out of 1,800 square meters for a MNC medical firm valued at $3 million, and the mixed-use development of a 40,000-square-meters site valued at $500 million for a private client. He has also worked as a development manager at Abdullah Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Subeaei Holding from November 2014 to June 2016.
Earlier, he served as the head of construction and committee member of the development team at Tawadu International Company from June 2012 to November 2014.
He was also head of the projects and maintenance department at Arabian Food Supplies from May 2007 to June 2012. Al-Gothmi worked as an architect at Saudi Diyar Consulting from June 2005 to October 2006 and at the General Authority of Civil Aviation from October 2006 to April 2007.
He holds a master’s degree in construction management from City University in Britain and a bachelor’s degree in architecture from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
